How the “More Expensive” Removable Label Puts Money Back in your Pocket

RiseClean technology might cost a penny more, but it'll actually decrease costs on your shop floor!

Is RiseClean actually more expensive than my current labels?

Before we dig into why RiseClean might be more of an investment than your other labels, let's make sure that's actually true.

Ask yourself:

1. Am I comparing RiseClean to a permanent label? Permanent labels are always cheaper.

2. Am I comparing the same exact size label in the same exact quantities? First, make sure you're comparing the same size label. Then, check to see how many labels come on a roll and in a case of your other labels. Now, check to see how many labels come on our rolls and in our cases of that label. Are the quantities exactly the same? Our rolls sometimes come with more labels on them compared to others, causing a difference when comparing pricing!

3. Am I comparing RiseClean removable adhesive to a standard removable label? Our RiseClean adhesive is most closely compared to an "ultra removable label" in the industry, although it still is a different technology. A standard removable label is NOT a close enough comparison and will be cheaper than an "ultra removable"!

After checking the comparison standards, I believe RiseClean IS more expensive than my current labels. Why?

If you are truly comparing another company's ultra removable label in the same size and quantities and ours comes out to be a bit more per label, here's why:

Our RiseClean adhesive technology is unlike any other in the woodworking industry because it was designed with you in mind. It outperforms not only standard removable labels, but ultra removables, too. RiseClean is tacky enough to stick when it's supposed to and not fall off, yet peel cleanly and easily every time, no matter how long it's been sitting on your wood product.

Our clients actually report cost SAVINGS by using RiseUp Labels.

Let's dig in.

The Cost of Scraping Residue:

The most common complaint we hear from woodworking companies using other removable labels is that they stick too well and leave a messy residue behind on their product when peeled off. Removing this residue requires a time-consuming cleanup process involving extra materials like lacquer thinner, chemical sprays, towels, and often scraping the part with a razor blade or putty knife.

We did a cost analysis on scraping residue and here's what we found:

If you pay an employee $25 per hour, that's 42 cents per minute. Now say it takes 1 minute to clean up a bad label. Doesn't sound too expensive yet, right? Well, let's say you use 50 labels per day. If someone has to spend 1 minute cleaning up 50 labels, that's $21 wasted EVERY DAY. In just 1 month, that's $440 down the drain, not including the cost of the clean up materials they used.

What we didn't tell you is that 1 minute is on the LOW end of what we've heard it takes to clean up a bad label. The typical range we hear is 2 to 5 minutes of clean up per label... keep doing the math and you'll see how quickly a cheap label can add up in cost!

Not only does this waste valuable time on the shop floor, it also puts your employees AND your product at risk. We've heard horror stories of doctor visits with stitches and damaged cabinet parts.

In addition to the physical risks, we've also been told that asking a valued employee to spend their day scraping goo that shouldn't be there in the first place tends to put a damper on their motivation. That adds to the cost of a cheap label.

Fin Cabinetry figured out that their old labels were costing them big time. Here's what they found:

“We had been using (another company’s) ‘easy peel’ labels, but they would never come off in one piece. This would require the guys to pick at them for a really long time, use a putty knife to scrape them off, use thinner to remove the adhesive, and sand the pieces to remove any signs of the labels. Sometimes this would take up to 2 minutes +.”

“Our average shop pay is about $30/hour so we figured it was costing us about $1 to remove every label. The projects that we do are pretty large so there are hundreds of labels per job. These [RiseClean Removable Labels] paid for themselves on our first project."

Alan of Dovetail Custom Wood and Metal reported that his employees were spending 25% of their time dealing with poor performing labels instead of getting work done:

The Cost of a Label Falling Off

Sometimes, a cabinet shop will come to us with the opposite issue... their labels don't stick enough and tend to fall off and get lost. If that's the case in your shop, then we're talking costs of reprinting labels or even losing cabinet parts. You simply don't have that kind of time to waste when you're trying to grow and do more jobs.
